Sma wire testing
WebDec 7, 2024 · This work presents a novel five-fingered soft hand prototype actuated by Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires. The use of thin (100 μm diameter) SMA wire actuators, in conjunction with an entirely 3D printed hand skeleton, guarantees an overall lightweight and flexible structure capable of silent motion. WebNov 7, 2024 · From the results, it can be seen that the SMA wire was able to produce contraction of 3 mm at temperature of 55 °C with force measurement of 20 N. The resistance was found to be 1.37Ohm at ambient temperature. In order to produce 2 mm displacement, the SMA wire has to be heated to 47 °C.
